We hold monthly meetings in Tyler to provide a safe place for those who are grieving. It's difficult to process grief in this world where we live. It makes people uncomfortable and they don't know what to do with it. If you need a place to come with others who understand, we hope you will consider joining us. We'd love to have you!

The meetings are informal and you can choose to share as much or as little as you like. Sometimes even saying your name is more than some can do the first time. Coming to a place where you don't know anyone, at a time in your life when you are hurting so deeply, can be scary and leave you feeling very vulnerable. Our hope is that you will feel comfortable and leave knowing you have found a new home.

We had a great meeting last night. One of the things we talked about was the importance of giving ourselves permission to grieve, be sad, be angry and simply just hurt. Often, those closest to us don't understand. That's where having access to a support system can be tremendously helpful. When we hear others' stories, we realize we are not crazy. We are simply in a very painful place - down to our core. We need to take care of ourselves, learn to ask for what we need and don't be worried about meeting others' expectations. We also need to remember grief is a journey and  we will not always be in this place. Over time, the pain will lessen - especially if we are allowing Jesus to heal our broken hearts.
